(a 50/50 blend of merlot and cabernet franc) Good deep color. Aromas and flavors of black fruits and minerals, lifted by spices and violet. Still a bit reduced but offers lovely sweetness of fruit and vivacity for the year. Finishes with very good cut and length. A terrific second wine, nicely rounded out by the addition of press wine.

Ausone's second wine, the 2007 Chapelle d-Ausone, is a delicious, crisp, crunchy effort revealing lots of minerality along with raspberry and black cherry characteristics, a supple texture, and delicious flavors similar to its more famous sibling.

50% Cabernet Franc, 50% Merlot. Mid to dark crimson. Very heady and full. Round and not at all concentrated. A little green on the finish. Pretty angular. Nothing like as good as Petit Cheval. Angular. Maybe very slightly too much new oak?
