The 2013 Bolgheri Cont'Ugo is once again terrific. Expressive, floral aromatics balance the generosity of Bolgheri Merlot in a refined, impeccably balanced wine loaded with personality. Just bottled, the 2013 is remarkably expressive today. I imagine it will be even better and more delicious in another 6-12 months. In particular, the wine's precision - far from a guarantee in Bolgheri - is super-appealing. Hints of violet, crushed rose petal and black cherry are laced into the finish. Since its introduction a few years ago, the Cont'Ugo remains one of the hidden gems in the Antinori range.
