The 2017 Gloria is medium to deep garnet-purple in color with a nose of warm blackcurrants, baked blackberries and plums with cedar, earth and herbs hints. The palate is medium-bodied, juicy, soft and easy-breezy. The blend is 61% Cabernet Sauvignon, 26% Merlot, 8% Petit Verdot and 5% Cabernet Franc. It was aged for 14 months in French oak, 40% new. About 65% of the production was produced as grand vin.

Tasted blind. Deep ruby-purple colour. Slightly reticent but pure cassis fruit on the nose. The depth comes on the palate - there is real drive of black fruit and bright acidity to offer real energy. There is a sweet, juicy edge to the fruit that makes this soft and approachable. The tannins are fine and offer a delicate structure against the fruit. Should drink well in the medium term. (TP)
