The 2019 Puligny-Montrachet Folatieres 1er Cru has a lighter and more airy bouquet: dew-speckled green apples, gunflint and light spicy aromas come together to create a complex and involving set of aromatics. The oak is nicely integrated here. The palate is well-balanced with a harmonious texture, perfectly-pitched acidity, taut and linear with a nuanced, apricot and quince-tinged finish that glides across the senses. Lovely. Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting.

Aromas of pear, hazelnuts, crisp green apple, fresh peach and orange oil, framed by a touch of youthful reduction, preface Leflaive's 2019 Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Folatieres, a medium to full-bodied, ample and incisive wine with a fleshy and enveloping core of fruit that's underpinned by a tangy spine of acidity that animates the long, saline finish.
