The 2021 Fombrauge, bottled last May, has a sweet nose, with tinned prune and Medjool dates infusing the slightly smudged red fruit and just a touch of warmth coming through. The palate is medium-bodied, lightly spiced on the entry with white pepper and clove. The tannins do feel a little dry, particularly on the second half, which has a smooth texture but comes across a little monotone compared to other recent vintages. This kind of "stumbles" over the finish line. Tasted twice.

Tasted blind. Sweet and covers all bases on the palate. Good combination of ripeness and freshness. A mineral note. There is fruit and energy here. (JR)
