The 2021 Echezeaux Grand Cru, which comes from the Les Champs Traversins lieu-dit and is around one-third de-stemmed, was (again) showing a small reduction. Raspberry, wild strawberry and light pressed flower scents, flecks of mandarin emerge with time. The palate is very harmonious, saline in the mouth, taut and fresh, a brightness on the finish that is quite endearing but there's a bit of muscle here. Very fine.

88.72 ares (2.19 acres) in Les Champs Traversins. Harvested 25 September 2022. 70% new Oak. Cask sample.Mid-ruby. Sweet core of red-cherry fruit and, as Echezeaux goes, this is on the seductive, elegant side. There s a hands-off lightness to the concentrated fruit, lifted by elegant perfume. But some quite bold tannins on a relatively skinny finish. Seems a tad maigrichon, lacking convincing depth. (MH)
