Conteisa is made from vines in the small portion of Cerequio which lies within the commune of La Morra (around 80% is situated over the border in Barolo). Its a site which suffers regularly from hail so the family has fitted hail nets and carry out careful selection. The warm summer of 2015 enabled even ripening of the bunches, and the result at nearly 10 years old is a wine offering balsamic cherry and wild strawberry scents leading to a fine-grained palate with intense cherry, raspberry and strawberry fruit over chalky tannins. Wild herb and tobacco touches lend nuance, while the succulent fruit develops salinity on the mid-palate. Sweet, pure and vital with an underlying tannin and wood structure and a slightly drying finish, this pretty wine is drinking nicely right now.

Pale ruby with orange tinges. Alluring, concentrated nose of pure and focused red fruit supported by just the right dose of oak. Lots of juicy raspberry fruit on the palate and bags of muscular grainy tannins but never overwhelming the fruit. Succulent and elegant finish. Pure delight. (WS)
