CRITIC REVIEWS

Definitely worth discovering. Piercingly focused ripe cassis fruit, with an edge of mineral and spice. The texture is generous, concentrated and surprisingly dense at the village level. This wine is definitely suited to at least mid-term ageing and should open well with time. Bachelet has 1.2ha spread over six lieux-dits where the vines were planted in the 1930s. Yield is pitifully low: 50% of a normal crop in 2020. The fruit is destemmed and fermented on native yeasts prior to ageing in cask (20% new).

Bachelets 2020 Gevrey-Chambertin Vieilles Vignes once again incorporates his holdings in Les Evocelles, which didnt produce enough grapes to merit a separate vinification. Bursting with aromas of cherries, raspberries, spices and licorice, its medium to full-bodied, deep and concentrated, with velvety tannins, lively acids and an elegant, seamless profile.
