Situated on the northern Nuits-Saint-Georges hillside, halfway up the slope, this climat produces wines characterised by their delicate and elegant aromas. The name Aux Chaignots suggests the presence of an old oak forest known as a chasne in ancient French. Dark ruby red in colour with red fruit aromas and roasted, smoky notes on the nose. The palate is rich and oily with good structure and a perfect balance between finesse and strength. The silky tannins give this wine a harmonious mouthfeel.

Tasted blind at Flint Wines’ 2007/2012 Nuits Saint-Georges tasting in London. The 2012 Nuits Saint-Georges 1er Cru Aux Chaignots appears to have improved a great deal since I last tasted it. Here, it offers a detailed and composed bouquet with precise red cherry, cranberry and pomegranate fruit, an underlying mineralité that surfaces with aeration. The palate is medium-bodied with fine delineation, precise and poised with a harmonious and pure finish that is a pure delight. Classy and thoughtful winemaking afoot here. Tasted November 2016.

Beautifully sweet fruit – loads of juiciness, backed up with sweetly spiced oak. Soft, supple tannins. Very feminine for a Nuits-St-Georges, perhaps, but it works. (RH)

This also applies to wines which are currently En Primeur as these are not available for immediate delivery. Storage charges will apply if you choose to store your wines with us. If you would like your wines delivered, please select "Private Home Delivery in the UK". Duty and VAT will be applied if you choose to have your wines delivered to a UK address.
