A fabulous wine for the vintage, this well-endowed St.-Julien exhibits a dense purple color in addition to a sweet bouquet of charcoal, burning embers, blackberries, cassis, and a hint of graphite. Dense, full-bodied, and surprisingly concentrated with more body, texture, and length than most 2007s, the wine possesses a suppleness, velvety tannins, and low acidity. Drink it over the next 10-15 years.

Tasted blind at Farr Vintners 2007 Bordeaux tasting. I must have underrated the 2007 Saint-Pierre because this showed extremely well. This is totally different from the last showing, which was also conducted blind. It has a perfumed, quite feminine bouquet with wilted rose petals infusing the red berry fruit. This seems very composed and refined. The palate is medium-bodied with crisp tannin, fine focus and plenty of freshness and vigor towards the lightly spiced finish. This is a very well crafted Saint Julien that should offer another ten years of pleasure. Tasted March 2015.
