The 2013 Brut Blanc de Blancs is a pure East-Sussex-grown Chardonnay. Forty percent of the base wines were fermented in large oak, and the wine spent a decade on lees. Only the subtlest creaminess appears on the nose. Swirling reveals a touch of crumbly biscuit and lemon. The palate is absolutely pure. Lemon brightness is bedded on a soft, smooth, cool and soothing backdrop of raw shortcrust pastry. Linearity and balance are foremost, as is near unbelievable freshness; you would never guess this is more than a decade old. This is a pure and luminous beauty with vivid, fine effervescence, self-assured serenity and supreme elegance. Wow. Dosage is 8.2 grams per liter. Disgorged: August 2024.
