78% Pinot Noir, 22% Chardonnay from this superior vineyard in West Sussex. A warm start to the year saw a slightly earlier budburst than average. Fine and warm weather continued through to July, with good and timely flowering and fruit set. A cooler August followed, slightly delaying veraison, but a warm September led to gradual ripening before a harvest which began in the first week of October. Overall, warm, fine conditions. Disgorged September 2020 with total RS 8.5 g/l. Quite a mature nose but great freshness and verve on the palate which it leaves clean. Quite a substantial, complex wine with an attractively savoury note and a beginning, middle and end. Hits the throat! (JR)
