Deep garnet-purple in color, the 2017 Grand Mayne features scents of warm black and red plums, boysenberries and fragrant earth plus wafts of cedar, unsmoked cigars and bay leaves. Medium-bodied, the palate has a rugged, chewy frame and just enough savory flavors, finishing on a stewed tea note.

Tasted blind. Bright ruby colour. Confected red fruit on the nose which is sweet and simple. Pithy, lively and light on the palate. Not overly complex, with some graphite tones and fleshy red fruit. This should drink well in the medium term. (TP)
