Aromas of red berries, peonies, raspberries and orange rind introduce the 2018 Savigny-les-Beaune 1er Cru Les Lavieres, a medium to full-bodied wine that's floral and perfumed, with an ample core of fruit, lively acids and a precise finish. Finer-boned and more energetic than the Fourneaux that preceded it, this is very promising.

Light crimson. Not much on the nose, lightly stemmy red fruit. Light all round but all in balance. (JH)
