The 2018 Morey-Saint-Denis Faconnières 1er Cru is backward on the nose with blackcurrant and raspberry fruit, not complex and maybe showing some overripeness compared to its peers (indeed, it bears semblance to the Chambolles in 2018). There is some brettanomyces here. The palate is medium-bodied with chewy tannins, quite muscular in style but there is a nagging greenness that juts out on the aftertaste. Perhaps some fruit that did not attain phenolic ripeness? Tasted blind at the Burgfest 2018 red tasting.

Cask sample. Very introvert nose and then very sweet palate. Pretty flashy. Probably worth looking at after a while but the Moreys tasted today from this domaine are very embryonic.
