The 2019 Barolo Bricco Fiasco is bright, precise and nicely delineated. Sweet red cherry, mint, white pepper and orange peel give this mid-weight, nervy young Barolo plenty of top register intensity. Deceptively understated and nuanced, the 2019 is going to be interesting to follow.

Castiglione Falletto. Mid ruby with orange tinges. Complex, with quite a bit of concentration on the nose and, with aeration, opening up to perfumed cherry fruit. Juicy and with plenty of lifted acidity and plenty of slightly drying tannins, at least for the moment. The whole is elegant, though, and has great balance, while all single parts still need to integrate. (WS)
