CRITIC REVIEWS

The 2019 Charmes-Chambertin Les Mazoyères Grand Cru has a slightly earthy bouquet and lacks a little cohesion at first, never really taking flight like its peers. It becomes smoky with aeration. The palate is medium-bodied, pliant and fresh, but, tasted after some exemplary Clos Saint-Jacques, comes across rather simple and slightly dry on the peppery finish. Not bad, but short of how it showed in barrel. Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting.
