The 2019 Gevrey-Chambertin Lavaut Saint-Jacques 1er Cru is consistent with my tasting note from 12 months earlier. Vibrant red fruit on the nose, redcurrant and cranberry fruit, wilted rose petals and black pepper. The palate is beautifully balanced with a fine bead of acidity, fine depth, vibrant red fruit with a lively spicy finish. This may well warrant a higher score in the future. Tasted at Domaine Duroché.

Notes of raspberries, plums, spices, candied peel, woodsmoke and rose petals introduce the 2019 Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Lavaut Saint-Jacques, a medium to full-bodied, fleshy and layered wine, built around lively acids and velvety tannins. Displaying fine depth at the core, it will offer a broad drinking window.
