Joaquín Hidalgo
The 2019 Caro is a blend of 64% Malbec and 36% Cabernet Sauvignon from Paraje Altamira and Gualtallary in the Uco Valley; it was aged in 80% new barrels. Purple in the glass. The nose presents notes of bay leaf, thyme and hints of plum, sour cherry, blackcurrant and mint accompanied by aromas from the aging process such as cedar, cinnamon and vanilla. A classical, nuanced wine, it has a creamy flow and juicy freshness with a lean palate, polished, finely grained, slightly lush tannins and a chalky texture. Bold and long-lasting, the fresh core is key.
