The 2020 Echezeaux Grand Cru has closed down a little since bottling, but there remains attractive, brambly blackberry and raspberry fruit; those white pepper and ash-like scents emerge with time. The palate is medium-bodied with sappy red fruit, quite dense with a little more sappiness than it showed from barrel, albeit without the persistence of the Clos de la Roche.

Cask sample. Deep cherry; those haunting 2020 violets; really very stylish; floral and fun (playful?). Structure imposed itself on the finish. Really very fine. (MH)
