The 2020 Barolo Monvigliero is an attractive, light-bodied wine. It is graced with crushed flowers, tobacco, mint, dried cherry and cedar. Monvigliero is always a lighter Barolo, but the 2020 comes across as a bit more ethereal than the norm.

Verduno. Cask sample. Palish youthful ruby. Subtle, aromatic nose hinting at balsamic raspberry, cardamom and stony, minerally notes. Supple and generous palate that is not fully open yet. Very long, juicy and still embryonic and with fantastic fine, gravelly tannins on the finish. Complete, but will need time to develop in the bottle. (WS)
