The 2021 Barolo Cerretta is another of the more potent wines in this range. Ample and resonant, with terrific depth, the 2021 is substantial. It is also a very young Barolo that needs time to unwind. Dark-toned fruit, incense, leather, spice and tobacco add to an impression of gravitas.

Serralunga d Alba. Concentrated mid ruby with orange tinges. Spice, stalks and saline notes hovering over brooding fruit. Supple, fluid fruit on the palate on a layer of chewy tannins that end a tiny bit astringent but the fruit persists. Needs much more time. (WS)
