95% Tempranillo, 5% Cabernet Sauvignon. A blend of different villages (Olivares de Duero, Valbuena, Moradillo, Baños de Valdearado, Tubilla del Lago and Anguix). Bush vines between 750 to 1,000 m above sea level on soils with clay and limestone. Alcoholic fermentation in stainless-steel vats. Aged 20 months in French oak barrels. 50,410 bottles, plus 1,129 magnums.Tasted blind. Inky and deep colour, with generous legs. Straightforward nose of black fruit, blackberry, plums and prunes, with an underlayer of toasty oak notes: smoke, toast and mocha. Intense and rich, fully loaded with chalky tannins, ready to develop further with time. I love the freshness given by its notes of liquorice, violets and mocha. A very good wine to keep in the cellar. (FC)
