The concentrated 2021 Ermitage Le Pavillon uses grapes grown on the granitic soils of the Les Bessards lieu-dit. Swishing the glass unlocks an alluring perfume of pencil shavings, black cherry, blackberry, crushed violets, cedar and vanilla. Iodine elements complement the complex aromatic profile. Medium to full in body, polished and concentrated, the 2021 is a distinctively powerful rendition considering the challenging growing season. It finishes with excellent drive.

Granite with petrichor aromas. From 4 ha of Les Bessards and 65-year-old vines. Yield 25-30 hl/ha. Cask sample.Much deeper crimson than Les Greffieux. Really quite intense. Haunting aromas and gorgeously layered with concentrated, velvety fruit within a fine corset. Really lovely wine with great ripeness and smokiness. Firm and Hermitage-like but with great expression and appeal already. Dangerously drinkable! (JR)
