The 2022 Le Carillon d'Angelus has a soft and slightly squidgy nose, redcurrant and strawberry fruit, open-knit and thankfully gaining delineation in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with a sweet core of red fruit, a keen line of acidity with just a little tartness on the graphite-tinged finish. Fine. Tasted blind at the Southwold tasting in London.

90% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Franc. Cask sample.Precise in execution, the aroma lifted and refined, the texture of tannin pure and exact. Nothing overblown, the fruit remaining juicy. Harmonious. (JL)
