The 2022 Belfont-Belcier has a classically styled bouquet with blackberry, wild strawberry and crushed stone, well defined and focused, with neatly integrated oak. The palate is medium-bodied with pliant tannins, silky smooth with countervailing acidity that keeps this fresh and focused. Just a tad opulent on the finish, but you must admire the purity of fruit. Tasted blind at the Southwold tasting in London.

Tasted blind. Relatively pale. Unusual smell of old rope! At least this wine has character! Dry rather than drying finish. (JR)
