The 2022 Volnay Les Fremiets 1er Cru presents a dark, almost somber expression of Volnay. Blue/purplish fruit, new leather, licorice and lavender infuse the 2022 with striking complexity and dimension. Gravel, dried flowers and dark spice add lovely complexity to this decidedly virile, imposing Volnay. The tannins need time to soften, but there s plenty of fruit. - Antonio Galloni

Cask sample. Mid crimson. Peppery dark-red fruit, just lightly herbal/stemmy. Chewy and sweet-fruited. Fresh, energetic, straightforward. (JH)
