Matured with 50% whole bunches, the 2022 Gevrey-Chambertin Les Goulots 1er Cru has a complex, engaging bouquet: a mixture of red and black fruit, white pepper and fennel. The palate is medium-bodied with fine-grain tannins, very elegant in style, and beautifully balanced as it fans out towards the finish. Impressive in terms of precision, a Gevrey that really benefitted from its cooler microclimate.

Cask sample. Mid-to-light crimson. Intensely scented with pure dark-red fruits. Juicy fruit in very fine but dry tannins. Just enough fruit at the core for balance. Long and promising for the longer term but a bit severe now. (JH)
