The 2022 Volnay Les Fremiets 1er Cru comes from vines that average 72 years old. There s red berry fruit, Moroccan spices and a touch of forest floor on the nose that is significantly fresher and more complex than the Vieilles Vignes. The palate is medium-bodied with a fleshy opening and grainy tannins. It s missing a little freshness towards the finish that needs to convey more energy and tension. Let's see how this turns out in bottle.
