The 2022 Nuits Saint-Georges Chaignots 1er Cru has a glorious bouquet with impressive purity and charm, floral, black cherries and veins of blue fruit bursting from the glass. The medium-bodied palate has ripe tannins, leaning a little towards the red fruit side of the spectrum, with black pepper and a slightly savory finish. Afford this three or four years in bottle.

1.5 ha (3.7 acres) divided in two parcels, 60 and 65 years old. Easterly aspect. Racked one week before. Cask sample.Deep, bright dark ruby. Dark red cherries and a touch of mulberry and blueberry. Fresh rather than racy acidity. It s all quite understated and medium-bodied; tannins are very soft and integrated. (MH)
