The 2022 Le Clarence de Haut-Brion offers more red fruit on the nose than La Mission Haut-Brion, black olive tinged, gravelly black fruit, unmistakably Pessac in style. The palate is medium-bodied with powdery tannins, Earl Grey tinged black fruit and a slightly fleshier finish that has more persistence. Fine. Tasted blind at the Southwold tasting in London.

Tasted blind. Smudgy crimson. Rich and ripe on the nose. But pretty sharp on the end. Needs lots of time but probably has the ingredients to please eventually. Stony. (JR)
