The 2023 Morey-Saint-Denis 1er Cru has a little more delineation, intensity and darker fruit on the nose compared to the Village. The palate is medium-bodied, demonstrating a touch more weight than the Village, with hints of red cherry, strawberry and bergamot toward the finish. It's nicely structured and doubtlessly much earlier drinking than the 2022.

Cask sample. Mid-pale ruby. Lovely nose of bright red-cherry fruit, raspberry and undergrowth. Medium-bodied, and just a vaguest hint of grille on the fruit, but not in a bad way. Meat, not charcoal. Fresh, lively acidity and powdery tannins. (MH)
