The 2022 Troplong Mondot has a very complex nose that takes ten minutes to really open in the glass, revealing pure black fruit, graphite and touches of sous-bois a little Left Bank in style, a la Figeac (for example). The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannins, crisp and, again, extremely pure with a caressing texture. There is impressive tension through the precise and tender finish. This is an outstanding Troplong-Mondot. Afford it three to four years in bottle, and it will peak after ten.

85% Merlot, 13% Cabernet Sauvignon, 2% Cabernet Franc. Cask sample.Fragrant and fine with red-fruit and liquorice notes. An impressive amount of juicy fruit on the palate, the tannins plentiful but silky and smooth. Builds on the palate providing a long, fresh, chalky finish. Elegant and harmonious. (JL)
