The 2022 Nuits Saint-Georges Les Cailles 1er Cru has a bold and forthright bouquet with black cherries, black plum, crushed violet and just a touch of fig. The palate is medium-bodied with succulent ripe tannins and gentle grip. It is fresher on the finish than the Les Pruliers, with fine tension and length. This is very promising - the terroir shows through beautifully.

1.19 ha (2.9 acres) replanted in 2001. Cask sample.Deep ruby. Yet more intense red and black fruit; red cherries, strawberry and raspberry, laced with velvety traces of cassis and blueberry. This is lovely! Silken, with extra-velvet richness. Deceptively drinkable now. Rather good. Fine length. (MH)
