The 2022 Gevrey-Chambertin Les Champeaux 1er Cru, which was bottled at the end of November, is a step-up from the Champerrier, with pretty brambly red fruit, sous-bois and light rose petal scents. The palate is medium-bodied, crisp and pure, with pliant tannins. There is palpable Pinote here and a brisk, mineral-driven finish. This is worth seeking out. Tasted at merchants' 2022 Burgundy tastings in London.
