The 2023 Chardonnay is delicate and understated. Apricot, lemon confit, chamomile, hazelnut and floral-infused honey are some of the notes that take shape in the glass. This is a relatively quiet wine for Isole e Olena. The 2023 spent 10 months in barrel (as opposed to the 12 that was typical previously), with a shortened period during which the wine undergoes bâtonnage, steps taken to preserve greater tension. The smaller-scale profile is attractive, even if the 2023 feels a touch compact. There's notable finesse here, but the vintage was less favorable overall.
