The 2024 Guidalberto is laced with succulent dark red fruit, cedar, spice, pipe tobacco, licorice and dried herbs. Supple and easygoing, the 2024 is a wine to drink over the near and medium term. There's a touch of evolution in the bouquet that reinforces this impression. The 58% Cabernet Sauvignon and 42% Merlot, less Merlot than usual because of the challenges of the growing season. Production is down by about 25%.

Full, embossed bottle 1,261 g. 52% Cabernet Sauvignon, 48% crop-thinned Merlot picked between 28 August and 5 October. Aged 13 months in oak barriques (90% French and 10% from Hungary, Slavonia and Germany). 40% new and 60% used barrels. pH 3.46, TA 6.12 g/l. Pale crimson. Sweet, red-cherry richness on the nose and then some fresh acidity but this is much less distinctive, and less persistent, than its Le Difese stablemate. (JR)
