The 2022 Pavie Macquin has a fresh, vibrant, well-defined and focused bouquet with perfumed red berry fruit laced with violet and light iodine scents. There is a mineralite here that will come through with time. The palate is medium-bodied and fine with a fresh entry, fluid tannins, a keen line of acidity and a sorbet-fresh finish that urges you back for another sip. This is excellent.

80% Merlot, 19% Cabernet Franc and 1% Cabernet Sauvignon.Particularly shiny deep crimson. Intense nose. Almost sour, there is such a pronounced acidity level. Tannins are a little drying on the end. This seems to have all the elements concentrated except possibly the fruit. Not that user-friendly. But it may develop into something better balanced? (JR)
