On Wednesday evening, Cru Wine hosted an exclusive Pichon Comtesse Wine Dinner at 67 Pall Mall alongside the celebrated Pauillac estate Château Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande.
Bringing collectors together with the producers behind some of the world’s most sought-after wines is something we always enjoy. With a room full of collectors and enthusiasts, and a line-up of exceptional vintages from Pichon Comtesse, the evening proved to be both engaging and memorable.

We were extremely fortunate to be joined by Nicolas Glumineau, Managing Director and Chief Winemaker at Pichon Comtesse, who guided guests through the wines during the dinner.
Nicolas shared insights into the estate’s philosophy, vineyard work in Pauillac and the approach that has helped shape Pichon Comtesse into one of Bordeaux’s most admired Second Growth estates. His passion for the property was clear throughout the evening, and hearing directly from the person responsible for these wines added a valuable perspective for our guests.
There was also a moment of gentle and amusing correction from Nicolas himself. The Château should always be referred to simply as “Pichon Comtesse”, not Pichon Lalande. Lesson learned.
Wines Tasted at the Pichon Comtesse Wine Dinner
The evening featured a carefully selected line-up of vintages that demonstrated both the precision of the estate’s modern style and the ageing potential that collectors value in Pauillac.
The wines were tasted in the following order:
Château Pichon Comtesse Réserve 2018
Château Pichon Comtesse 2016
Château Pichon Comtesse 2010
Château Pichon Comtesse 2003
Château Pichon Comtesse 1995
We began with the 2018 Réserve, the estate’s second wine, which showed impressive polish and generous fruit, making it an excellent introduction to the style of Pichon Comtesse.
The 2016 Pichon Comtesse followed. Many collectors already consider this one of the benchmark modern vintages for the estate. It showed remarkable balance and structure, with the precision and freshness that has made the 2016 vintage so highly regarded across Bordeaux.
Next came the 2010, another legendary year in Bordeaux. The wine delivered impressive concentration and depth while still retaining the elegance that defines Pichon Comtesse.
The 2003 vintage provided an interesting contrast. Known for its warm growing season, the wine displayed a richer and more opulent profile while maintaining the estate’s signature refinement.
The evening concluded with the 1995 Pichon Comtesse, which was drinking beautifully. Mature, complex and still vibrant, it offered layered aromas and a long, elegant finish. It was a fitting way to end the tasting and a reminder of just how rewarding mature Bordeaux can be.
Fine Wine Shared Among Collectors
Each wine was paired with dishes prepared by the team at 67 Pall Mall, designed to complement the character of the wines throughout the tasting.
The atmosphere across the room was relaxed and lively, with plenty of conversation about vintages, cellaring and Bordeaux more broadly. Events like this are always a pleasure for us at Cru Wine.
