Last year, Cru Wine were honoured to be recognised as one of 220 national organisations in the annual Queen’s Award for Enterprise in International Trade, specifically for Outstanding Short Term Growth in overseas sales over the previous three years.
Last month Gregory Swartberg, our company founder and CEO, was invited to Windsor Castle to a reception hosted by HRH The Prince of Wales to celebrate the achievements of the winners from both 2020 and 2021 Awards.
Swartberg was able to meet HRH The Prince of Wales during the prestigious drinks reception, who was delighted to chat about his love and experience of wine, which was great to hear! He recalled, “When I told him I work in wine, Prince Charles told me: that’s great, I love wine. Although we make a surplus of white wine and I use the surplus of English white wine to run my Aston Martin!”.
Since receiving the prestigious award, Cru Wine has continued to thrive, building a passionate and strong team of 15 employees, and has seen business grow by close to 150%.
Swartberg commented: “It has been terrific to receive such a prestigious award for both the team and the company. We have continued to grow since receiving the award as it has created an additional element of trust and credibility with our customers which often younger companies can lack. I foresee that this award will further cement our company brand as a customer focused business, always looking to develop new ways to serve our clients better.”
Alongside the Queen’s Award for Enterprise International Trade, Cru Wine has been included in the highly respected Financial Times list of Europe’s Fastest-Growing Companies in 2021 for the second year in a row, ranking 252 out of 1000 companies.
The Queen’s Awards for Enterprise are the most prestigious awards for UK businesses and is a globally recognised royal seal of approval for UK companies. The Awards recognise outstanding achievements across four categories: Innovation, Sustainable Development, International Trade and Promoting Opportunity (through social mobility).
